Pune Municipal Corporation continues action against encroachments
PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Wednesday carried out anti-encroachment drive across the city against unauthorised constructions.
The drive was conducted by ward offices of Ghole Road, Vishrambaugwada, Sahakarnagar, Bhavani Peth, Aundh, Dhole Patil road and Warje in their respective areas.
Over 100 unauthorised stalls in the areas such as Shivajinagar, Kasba Peth, Wadgaonsheri, NIBM Road, Shivarkar Road were razed. The civic body also took action against illegal hawkers, banners, handcarts and tin sheds. Over 300 boards including hoardings and banners were pulled down. The officials also confiscated 40 unidentified vehicles, a statement issued by the PMC said.
The civic administration has started the drive against encroachments on 42 major roads since the last one month. It plans to continue the drive in a bid to reduce traffic congestion. The action against encroachers will continue in the coming days.
