Civic body razes illegal structures
PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation razed 38 tin shed structures and eight concrete houses in a drive against unauthorised constructions in slum pockets in Shivajinagar, KasbaPeth, Wadgaonsheri, NIBM Road and Shivarkar Road. The administration started the drive against encroachments on 42 major roads and unauthorized constructions last month. It plans to continue the drive in a bid to reduce traffic congestion.
The drive was conducted by ward offices of Ghole road, Vishrambaugwada, Sahakarnagar, Bhavani Peth, Aundh, Dhole Patil road and Warje in their respective areas.
The civic squad also evicted hawkers from 42 main roads and confiscated handcarts. Over 200 hoardings, banners and advertisement boards were pulled down. The officials also confiscated 30 abandoned vehicles.
