Illegal buildings razed in Hadapsar

PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) razed unauthorised constructions spread over 4,000 sq ft in Hadapsar on Friday.

"Four residential constructions were targeted in the drive. Other illegal structures like public toilets, sheds and side margins were also demolished. About a month ago, the civic administration had served notices to the owners, who were asked to take down illegal constructions. Since they did not heed the notice, the civic body demolished the structures on Saturday," a senior civic official said.

Last week, the civic body had demolished unauthorized constructions spread over 20,000 sq ft in Sutardara. Illegal constructions spread over 20,000 sq ft were razed in the drive. A total of 18 residential buildings were demolished. Apart from illegal sheds, side margins of various hotels and banks were brought down.

In April, the civic administration had taken action against illegal multi-storied apartments. As part of the drive, illegal sheds and concrete houses in Shivajinagar, Kasba Peth, Vadgaonsheri, Ambegaon, Kothrud, Katraj, NIBM Road and Pashan were demolished.
