Demolition drive in Civil Lines

ALLAHABAD: Allahabad Municipal Corporation undertook a demolition drive in Civil Lines and Colonelganj areas on Monday. Several illegal kiosks that have mushroomed in the area were bulldozed during the drive. About five trucks loaded with the seized materials returned to the AMC office after the demolition drive.

The first demolition drive was undertaken in the Civil Lines area during the morning hours. The demolition drive started at around 6:00am which continued up to 10 am. The demolition squad, comprising bulldozers, JCB machines and trucks reached Harsh Vardhan Crossing in the morning before proceeding towards Mahatma Gandhi Marg and ending at Hanuman Mandir Crossing. In this demolition drive, 14 roadside kiosks were demolished and nine wooden counters were seized.

The second demolition drive was conducted in Colonelganj area. It started at 11:00 am and continued till 2:00 pm. It started from Anand Hospital Crossing and then proceeded towards Kutchchery and Laxmi Talkies passing through the back portion of the SSP office. It then proceeded towards Jagram Crossing and finally terminated at Katra Police Outpost.

In the second demolition drive, nine roadside kiosks were razed to the ground. There was enormous amount of seized materials in the drive that about 5 trucks were required to bring the seized materials at the AMC office.

The demolition drive was conducted under the supervision of demolition incharge SL Yadav and demolition inspector Piyush Mohale.
