INDORE: Taking a step towards reducing the traffic load on BRTS corridor, widening work of Chhavni road is going to start from Tuesday with removal of some of the encroachments. It was decided in a joint meeting of Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) and district administration on Monday.

Road from Chhavni Crossing on BRTS to Jagannath Dharamshala is going to be widened up to 60 feet.

IMC commissioner Rakesh Singh told TOI that certain encroachments which are on the road will be removed on Tuesday, followed by removal of constructions. Civic body will then work on a comprehensive plan for widening of road and development of parking space in the area. Second phase of removal will be carried out after a week or so.

Efforts are also being taken to develop a parking space at Haat Maidan under Jagannath Bridge and renovate primary school of the area, he added.
