Anti-encroachment drive continues
On the second day of anti-encroachment drive, the MC team today removed temporary encroachments from the College road, Bharat Nagar chowk and Cemetry road areas.
At College road, owner of Hind Saree showroom alleged that MC had even damaged the floor of his shop during anti-encroachment drive. The owner along with few others raised slogans against the MC authorities.
Another trader near the famous College road alleged that while MC team was removing encroachment from his samosa shop, his shop suffered damages as well.
At Bharat Nagar, the MC team was accused of adopting pick and choose policy. The MC team reputedly left encroachments in the form of ramps untouched after the shopkeepers promised that they would remove them on their own.
However, on College road, almost all the road-side encroachments were razed. The encroachers, it may be mentioned had been given enough time before the drive, but turned a deaf ear to the pleas of the MC.
