MCD intensifies demolition drive

Stepping up its demolition drive against unauthorised constructions, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday brought down 11 properties in Pulpehladpur, Lajpat Nagar, Govindpuri, Tughlaqabad Extension and Bhogal. “After demolition, all these have been left in uninhabitable condition so that they are not put to any use,” an official said.

Civic bodies asked to shift pig shelters

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Delhi Development Authority to shift the pig shelters located in a populated area in East Delhi, being run by private persons. The court asked the officials of the civic bodies to sit together and work out a plan for relocation of the shelters in Trilokpuri to an area outside the residential locality within two weeks.

Conman arrested

Greater Noida: The police arrested one Yogesh Pandey on Wednesday on the charge of duping several people of Rs 1.5 crore by striking land sale deals at Kasna here. Pandey was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by one Sube Singh, who alleged he was cheated of lakhs. As per the complaint, Pandey neither gave the promised plot nor refunded the money. He confessed to have duped several others too.
