Ludhiana: Although MC officials have received accolades for conducting demolition drive in the city to widen the roads, its after-effects have left many complaining. The debris is still lying on the roadsides and the MC teams have failed to clear the heaps, causing traffic chaos.

The main problem can be seen in Jawahar Camp, where demolition was conducted one month ago but still debris remains dumped on the main road to the bus stand and one side of the road has been completely blocked.

Councillors of inner city also complain that debris has created lot of problem near CMC area where MC team had demolished a few encroachments.

Towards Cheema Chowk, Gill Road and Orient Cinema, debris can be seen lying on the roadside. MC officials claimed since their teams have to go for demolition drive in other parts of the city, they have not got time to clear roads.

MC Joint Commissioner P S Ghumman admitted to the problem and said,” A few of our machines have gone out of order. I am aware of the problem and by tomorrow the bus stand road will be cleared.”

He, however, passed the blame to the residents and said they had blocked the road by throwing the debris.
