Act against encroachers, Mohali DC tells officials

Mohali: Taking serious view of the rampant encroachments, Mohali Deputy Commissioner Prabhjot Singh Mand on Wednesday directed officials of different departments concerned to act against illegal occupants and remove them from government land without any further delay and laxity.Chairing a special meeting of district officials, Mand asked the revenue department authorities to demarcate the government land in their respective jurisdictions to identify encroachments before initiating steps for their removal.
He asserted that zero tolerance would be adopted on account of encroachments and the official concerned would be held responsible for any encroachment found on government land.
The DC also instructed local administration officials to complete the ongoing development works in the district within the stipulated time period and submit user certificates of the grants and funds received from the state and Central governments for the same. “Any lapse or delay in undertaking development works and using government funds and grants would be dealt with sternly,” said Mand, while asking district officials to be more accountable, responsive and transparent towards the public in their day-to-day dealing and working.
Mand also reviewed the progress of various development projects on in the district besides taking stock of the audit reports on the working of various heads in the district administration.
