The first anti-encroachment drive will be launched on August 8 to reclaim around 12 acre land in and around the historic Lingambudi Tank near Dattagalli.
Assistant Commissioner Bharathi told Deccan Herald that the district administration is acting as per court’s directions. Around 11.24 acre government land has been encroached nearly 10-15 years ago. Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta personally visited the spot and gave green signal to reclaim the revenue land. The cost of land runs in crores of rupees as per current market price.
Special task force
She said the special task force specially constituted for the purpose of identifying encroachment has also noticed massive encroachment of 11.2 5 acre land of Diwan Poorniah Nala supposed to have been built several decades ago. The total length of this nala is 36 km and it starts from Krishnaraja Sagar up to Mysore. This nala, probably might have been constructed to bring water from there. However, the plan might have failed. There are sufficient clues about it. The Nala could be seen in Sridevi Nagar and Kukkarahalli-a distance of 4.5 km. Many vested interests have encroached the nala land and built commercial complexes and buildings. The anti-encroachment drive will be launched soon after getting approval from the deputy commissioner.
Major encroachments
The AC said a temple trust, that has encroached upon the revenue land has sold land on which commercial complexes have come up. A reputed institution too has encroached around 1.5 acre land. At Sridevinagar, the nala has been filled up on which parking lot is created for a hotel and as many as 20 sheds are given for rent. All these all illegal structures and they will be demolished without showing any mercy.
Bharathi said as per Karnataka Land Revenue act, the district administration need not give prior notice to occupants as encroaching government land itself amounts to violation of law. They would fully to prepared and pull down all illegal structures with the help of local police. The reclaimed land would be fenced and ownership will be transferred to the revenue department.
Survey
Asked about large scale encroachment within the city, she said the city survey is going on and after completion they would get a clear picture. The survey work has been outsourced and the work is going on under the supervision of deputy director, Department of Land Records. The anti-encroachment drive will also be launched in the city with the help of Mysore City Corporation soon after completion of the survey work.
“The district administration wants to prove that it will not spare anybody who have encroached government land”. she added.

Haryana Lokayukta report hauls up HUDA
Express News Service Tags : huda, plots Posted: Wed Aug 04 2010, 01:39 hrs Chandigarh: N K Sud, Lokayukta, Haryana, in his interim order of July 23, has pulled up the Estate Office, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Panchkula, for several instances of illegal allotment of plots in Panchkula from 2007 to 2010 under the Oustees Quota Scheme, 1987. The Lokayukta said there was a serious lapse on the part of the government officials concerned as they seemed to be in collusion with the beneficiaries of the allotment of plots. A series of complaints had been filed to the Lokayukta by one Parmanand in this regard.
“I am satisfied that no allotment to the ineligible person can be made without the active connivance of the officials of the Estate Office or the other revenue officials, and therefore calls for a strict action against erring officials. It is common knowledge that prices of immovable property in Panchkula are very high and therefore the only inference is that such officials had colluded with the ineligible persons in getting plots allotted to them under the Oustees Quota Scheme against monetary consideration,” said the Lokayukta’s report. The report said such collusions in defrauding the state exchequer clearly tantamounts to a criminal offence warranting criminal action also. “I am therefore of the view that prompt action should be taken against erring public servants so that it serves as a deterrent against occurence of such acts,” read the Lokayukta order.

Act against illegal structures, Rlys, BMC tell each other
Express News Service Tags : Act against illegal structures, mumbai Posted: Tue Aug 03 2010, 00:40 hrs Mumbai: A day after cracks developed in a wall adjacent to the railway tracks between Sandhurst Road and Byculla stations, the Central Railway has asked the civic body to take action against the illegal structures.
“We removed 10 metres of wall portion on Sunday because it could have collapsed any time but after inspection we have found that around 100 metres of wall has illegal encroachments next to it. In some cases, it was found that toilet blocks were built next to the same structure. With no proper drainage facility the water seeps into ground and this could weaken the structure again,” said Shriniwas Mudgerikar, chief spokesperson, CR.
“We have asked the BMC to remove these structures as this could create problem in the future.” The BMC instead has asked the railways to strengthen the wall. “Adjacent to the retaining wall, most structures belong to MHADA and they need to look into that. There is only one BMC property, which is the BMC chawl and is legal. The railways should strengthen the retaining wall as it has become weak with passing years “ said Y S Mahangade, Assistant Municipal Commissionner B Ward The WR has also asked the BMC to remove hawkers from the foot over bridges that run over the railway line. Last week, the railways had to suspend train operations after the railing of an FOB was dislodged.
