Hi-Tec flyover ready for inauguration tomorrow

HYDERABAD: Motorists moving on busy roads in Madhapur can expect relief from traffic congestion with the much-awaited Hi-Tec City flyover ready for inauguration on October 2.

The 700-metre-long flyover being taken up by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has been completed. The new flyover connects JNTU spinal road at one end and Cyber Gate on the other.

With the construction of the flyover, traffic congestion in Madhapur, especially the road from JNTU Kukatpally via the IT hub, connecting the Gachibowli road and the Jubilee Hills-Kondapur road via Madhapur cross, would ease considerably.

Everyday about 20,000 vehicles pass through the Cyber Towers junction. The 15-metre four-lane undivided carriageway, constructed at cost of Rs 26 crore, was taken up M Venkat Rao Infra Projects Pvt Ltd. Though construction began in April 2008 and was supposed to have been completed within 15 months, but it got delayed by more than a year.

"For the first time, HMDA will use solar lighting for the flyover. Several new construction features have been incorporated," HMDA executive engineer Majid Shareef said.
