GVMC panel sanctions several works

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Standing Committee of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation at its meeting on Thursday with Mayor and Committee Chairman Pulusu Janardhana Rao presiding sanctioned works worth Rs.541.71 lakh.

Services extended

Besides it resolved to reduce the daily trade licence fee from hawkers at road-margins from Wards 50 to 65 by 40 per cent. The services of 35 health assistants in anti-larvae operations have been extended by a year. It sanctioned Rs.40,000 to P. Paidiraju injured while pigs were being shot.

Among the works sanctioned are: a multi-purpose community hall in Ward 62 at an outlay of Rs.34 lakh, widening of road from the national highway to Bakkannapalem, Potinamallayyapalem, APHB Colony and Kommadi (Rs.148.84 lakh), road at Dibbapalem rehabilitation colony and a mini swimming pool at KL Rao Nagar (Rs.99.32 lakh) in Ward 50.

The other works include retaining walls for storm water drain in Wards 39 and Ward 42 (Rs.28 lakh and Rs.34.3 lakh), a kalyanamantapam at ITI in Ward 41 (Rs.40.5 lakh), a BT road from Bhagatsinghnagar to Narava bridge in Ward 66(Rs.49.3 lakh), road from NRI hospital to the highway in Ward 11 and road and drain repairs in P and T Colony and TPT Colony (Rs.90.45 lakh) and roads and drains in KRM Colony and Priyadarshini Colony (Rs.45 lakh).

Mr. Janardhana Rao said during its term the committee worked with co-operation and coordination for the development of the city.

Committee members M. Somayya, P.A.N. Raju, P. Jyothi, P. Veeralakshmi, A. Chandrakala and G.V. Krishna Rao and officials participated.
