Repair work on foot overbridge at andheri beginsThe public foot overbridge at the Andheri station was shut for repairs on Sunday afternoon, forcing many people to cross the tracks.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Western Railways (WR) started repair and replacement work on the public FOB on October 29.
The WR said it was allowing people without tickets to use the railway bridge (towards Churchgate-end) next to the public FOB.
“We are allowing people without tickets to use the railway FOB. They don’t have to fear getting caught,” said S Chandrayan, chief PRO of Western Railway.
Work on the FOB began only after the WR received around Rs 25 lakh from the BMC.
The WR will replace the old girder with new ones, apart from making structural changes in the FOB. Work is expected to finish by November 20.
On weekends, work will be carried out during the day, on weekdays it will be done between 1am and 4am.
