2 Gandipet gates opened

HYDERABAD: Due to incessant rains in catchment areas of the Osman Sagar in the last week, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) lifted two crest gates by four feet on Monday. This released over 1,000 cusecs of water downstream of the Musi.

Though there is no emergency situation, heavy inflows in the Himayath Sagar also forced the Water Board officials to lift two gates there, by four feet.

Osman Sagar reservoir is filled up to its full capacity, with its present storage at 3.900 TMC. On the same day last year, it was 0.980 TMC, according to HMWS&SB officials. Himayath Sagar is also filled up to its Full Reservoir Level (FRL) of 1763.50 feet. Present storage is 2.967 TMC, while last year on the same day, it was 1.167 TMC.
