Garbage collection equipment

The Belgaum City Corporation (BCC) has proposed to modernise garbage collection system by procuring new machinery. Tenders have been floated to purchase a 3.5 cubic metre capacity compactor, a suction-cum-jetting machine of 8000 litre capacity and other equipment worth Rs. 76.5 lakh. The last date for submission of tenders is July 12. If the procurement materialised on time, the machinery would become operational by October this year, said sources. This would help the BCC in handling around 200 tonnes of garbage generated every day in the city.
