Civic body to start two zonal offices in Bhosari, Nigdi

PUNE: Two new zonal offices of the PimpriChinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) are expected to begin operations in Bhosari and Nidgi in the next two months.

The PCMC has four zonal offices and wants to decentralize its functioning so that it can cater to the citizens in a better way. Citizens reach out to the zonal offices instead of going to the head office for any civic services or complaintsabout municipal services.

The civic body has cited increase in population and extension of the municipal limits as reasons for creating the additional zonal offices.

Municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi said the civic body is also redrawing the boundaries of the existing zones.

Of the two new zones that will be created, one office will be located in a municipal building in Bhosari and the other zonal office will be in Nigdi. The municipal corporation has urged the Pimpri Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) to allot its old office building for setting up their office.

Pardeshi said the civic body will need two months to create the new zones. The civic administration had tabled a proposal before the general body for the new zonal offices, which got an approval recently. While the existing four zonal offices are named as A, B, C and D, the new offices will be demarcated as E and F.
