Infrastructure works in PCMC to start from Nov

PUNE: The civic administration of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will start major construction works from November onwards. Ward-level projects will begin from October onwards, said civic officials on Wednesday.

The delay in implementation of construction work slated for this year was raised at the standing committee meeting. Committee member Chandrakant Walke said the implementation of small development works in wards like laying drainage lines, laying footpaths and tarring of internal roads have not started yet, despite the PCMC making budgetary provision for it.

A senior civic official said that the process of inviting bids, finalizing the contractor, getting approval of the standing committee and giving the work order to contractors need time. The process will be completed by October by then the monsoon season will also get over and the construction work can start.

Additionally, standing committee chairman Navnath Jagtap pointed out that the local cable TV operators pay the civic body for allowing their cables to pass over the streetlights. A similar charge should be made applicable for telecom companies, he said.

The standing committee approved a proposal for purchase of antidotes for snake bites from Haffkine Biopharmaceuticals for the civic run Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial hospital at an expenditure of Rs 3.43 lakh. Proposal for providing medical care to the pilgrims accompanying the annual Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar palkhi processions was also approved.

PUNE: The PimpriChinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has proposed to construct a multi-speciality 200-bed hospital at Thergaon to provide quality medical care to locals.

Municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi said land has been identified for constructing the hospital near PCMC Vengsarkar cricket academy at Thergaon. "This is a government land where a hospital of 150 to 200 beds can be built," he said.

"The department will require two acre of land to set up the hospital," a health official said. He said the town planning department will provide the land after which the health department will prepare a detailed project report.

Maya Barne, corporator from Thergaon and standing committee member, said, "There is a municipal dispensary at Kala Khadak which remains overcrowded. As a result, the people from Thergaon and nearby areas have to go to PCMC-run Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial hospital at Pimpri."

Senior corporator Shrirang Barne also emphasized on an urgent need of a hospital at Thergaon. The municipal commissioner has assured to construct a hospital at Thergaon for the local people, he said.

NMC eyes 46 plots costing 500 crore

NASHIK: The administration of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has identified 46 land acquisition proposals, including five plots for the internal ring road, which have to be completed before the Kumbh mela. The acquisitions of these 46 lands or plots are estimated to cost Rs 500 crore.

NCM's standing committee chairman Ramesh Dhongade had directed the civic administration on June 6 to submit the priority list of the land acquisition proposals so that they can be cleared at the earliest. Accordingly, the civic administration has prepared a list of 46 land proposals.

Speaking to TOI, a senior municipal official said, "We have around 225 proposals of land acquisition. We have identified 46 proposals for land acquisition considering the infrastructural development of the city, upcoming Kumbh mela and pollution control, including land acquisition for ring roads, roads towards Godavari river, sewage treatment plant and parking spaces."

The proposal includes plots at five locations on 20.3 km long ring road from Lekhanagar to Lekhangar. This ring road will be complete following the acquisition of plots at the five locations. This ring road starts from Lekhanagar, via Rajsarthi- Vadalagao-Vijay Mamta junction-Takligaon-Sangam bridge-Aurangabad-Amrutdham- Gunjal farm - MERI- Makhmalabad Road - Kranti Nagar- Indraprastha Bridge- Old Gangapur Naka- ABB Circle- City Centre Mall- Manohar Nagar and ends at Lekhanagar. The NMC is planning new connectivity from Trimbak Road to Mumbai-Agra highway, via ABB Circle, City Central mall, Manoharnagar, Govindnagar. The connectivity needs acquisition of land at three-four places.

The civic administration has prioritized work on this road.
