Park in poor shape

BANGALORE: The residents of Geetanjali Layout and other areas have the privilege to utilise the park maintained by Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). It is one of the best maintained parks by the BBMP and is also considered as a boon for the residents.

The park has all the infrastructure such as brand new cement benches, walking path, landscape and many plants and trees to ensure the greenery. It will be a pleasant for the people of nearby areas to pay a visit to this park.

Many people, especially, senior citizens visit it every day. “It is a very good and well-maintained park. I am very happy to visit it daily,’’ said A Sridharamurthy, a senior citizen.

However, the children’s park that exists adjacent to this park is most neglected one. The infrastructure at the park is not up to the mark. Most of the swings are broken and other equipments are rusted.

“I am unable to understand the logic behind the laxity of BBMP authorities in keeping this park fit for use by the children,’’ said a housewife on anonymity.

When contacted, Sumithra, Corporator, said that she would direct the BBMP authorities to replace the rusted play equipment at the children’s park. “I will visit the park along with the BBMP authorities. The problem will be solved within a few weeks. I want the BBMP to maintain it properly,’’ she said.

Meanwhile, S Chandrasekhar, Superintendent, Horticulture Department (East), BBMP, has said that he had assumed the office recently.

“I will visit the park within a few days and see what best can be done for the development of the children’s park. No one has brought these problems to my notice. I will take necessary measures to develop it,’’ said Chandrasekhar.
