4,309 constructions still without completion certificates

PUNE: Of the 8,385 people who were granted building permission for their constructions since 1982, only 4,076 have taken completion certificates from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in the past 28 years of formation of the civic body.

Dilip Kudale, co-ordinator, engineering department said that the PCMC said, "Out of the 4,309 who have not taken completion certificates till date include, 2,759 cases involving private small constructions and 1,317 cases involving commercial buildings."

Kudale said that the PCMC has sent notices to those who have not taken completion certificates following which 100 people applied for the same. "The scrutiny of their applications is in progress and if the applications fulfil the requisite conditions, they will be given the certificates," he said. "A majority of the building permissions have been given after 2005. In 2005 the PCMC changed the building permission rules due to which people have had to pay building permission charges and premium charges while getting the permission. The PCMC has collected the charges from 85 per cent of the people who had taken building permission, but not taken the completion certificates," said Kudale.

Kudale said, "The PCMC has given part completion certificates to 1,098 constructions which are in various stages of construction. The revenue earned by the building permission department has increased significantly in the past five years to reach Rs 107.10 crore in 2009-10 as against Rs 13.17 crore in 2005-06."
