GHMC aid for private heritage buildings

There is some cheer for owners of heritage buildings. The GHMC standing committee has cleared a proposal to provide financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 25 lakh to the owners of private heritage buildings for taking up repair work.

The committee presided over by Mayor Mohd. Majid Hussain has also consented to give a 75 per cent waiver of the property tax imposed on the private heritage buildings. If owners of such building propose to take up renovation and restoration work for conservation purposes, 20 per cent of the cost or Rs. 25 lakh, whichever is minimum will be reimbursed, it was made clear.

A new foot over bridge to be constructed near Lucky Hotel at Lakdikapul at a cost of Rs. 49 lakh has been cleared so is junction improvement plan at the Owaisi Hospital at a cost of more than Rs.16.5 lakh. It was also decided to allow the Missionaries of Charities to demolish the existing and dilapidated building which houses the destitutes and construct a new building in the same premises with the organisation’s own funds at Bhoiguda.

The Municipal Corporation will submit a fire hazard response and mitigation plan for the twin cities to the government.
