After a failed auction, MC takes over multi-level parking

The tehbazaari wing of Ludhiana MC on Monday took the charge of multi-level parking at its headquarters after a failed auction on April 25 in which bidders refused to bid on the base price terming it too high.

Now the auction is proposed to be held on May 6. While the previous contractor's agreement expired on March 28, it was given one month's extra fee to manage parking for April too.

The major problem the MC is facing is shortage of staff. As per rules, a minimum of 15 employees are required to manage parking while at present only three-six are managing parking. "The management was smooth on first day, and we hope it continues the same till new contractor takes over," said Rajeev Bhardwaj, superintendent, tehbazaari wing, managing parking.
