Multi-level parking lot mulled in Film City complex

NOIDA: Faced with an acute parking shortage in Noida, especially in the Film City complex in Sector 16A, Noida Authority is mulling setting up of a multi-level parking lot in the area. Noida's chairman and CEO, Rama Raman, has directed officials to study the feasibility and viability of the project.

Officials in charge of the area have to conduct a detailed survey of a plot which has been earmarked for the project that will cater to nearby offices. "There are hundreds of vehicles that come to this area and a multi-level parking facility will address the current problem of a large number of vehicles being stationed on the roads, leading to traffic congestion," said a senior Authority official.

Currently, randomly parked vehicles in the area's narrow roads not only bring traffic to a halt, but are also a security hazard. "The study of the plot, which is in the vicinity of a power substation, will decide how many vehicles will be able to park at the facility. The number of floors will also be determined after that," he added.

"There is a dire need to check illegal parking. Moreover, the number of vehicles being added to the roads is sharply disproportionate to the land availability for parking. It is imperative to come up with alternatives like multi-level parking," the official said.
