Historical Warangal to turn into tourist hub

WARANGAL: The Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) has chalked an action plan to develop the historically significant Warangal city into a tourist hub.

Several new projects will soon be taken up on KUDA lands on Build-Operate- Transfer (BOT) basis.

Information regarding the various projects has been put on the website www.kuda.in. Tenders have been invited from private builders and construction companies for taking up the projects and those interested can download the applications from the website and submit them before 25 November.

Earlier, KUDA had plans to construct multiplex theatres, food courts and others in its land but failed. So it changed its strategy.

It has decided to get a family entertainment centre, multi-purpose functioncum- convention hall, budget hotel, super speciality hospital, medical and health care centre, recreation health club with resort, etc. constructed in prime localities of the city through BOT system.

It has also decided to set up an eco-park with water sports, recreation and entertainment complex in five acres at Rangleela Maidan. At the prime Hayagreevachari centre in Hanamkonda, the officials have decided to construct a big building with modern facilities to house various government offices.

Speaking to this paper, KUDA planning officer Ajit Reddy said they have identified the several government departments functioning in rented buildings.

The building at Hayagreevachari centre will be built at a cost of Rs 15 crore, he added.
