BMC starts training camp for BRTS routes operation

To acquaint operators of the standard low floor buses to be rolled out on the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor from November 1, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) started a four-day training camp in the State capital on Thursday.During the camp, the operators that mainly include the drivers and helpers of these super specialty buses would be apprised of the issues to be looked after for successful running of public transport system in a rapidly growing city like Bhopal.

Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur, who inaugurated the camp, stated that one should be
aware of various technical and practical aspects for running these buses. Air and voice
pollution, mental frame of passengers, routes, traffic signs and road marks are the things that the drivers and helpers would be made aware of during the camp. imilarly, the traffic police have also been roped in to further address the objectives behind the move. Senior officials including district Collector Nikunj Shrivastava, SSP Adarsh Katiyar, Municipal Commissioner Manish Singh, AIG (Training), Vineet Kapoor and a number of Mayor-in-Council (MiC) members remained present on the occasion.In their addresses, the officials highlighted various aspects required for running a successful public transport system in a city. Further, to check staff from indulging in any sort of addictive means during the working hours, the officials said breath analysers would be used at all depots from where these buses would be operated. It may be mentioned that, on the newly developed 4 BRTS corridors, in total 105 buses will start from November 1, the day which is observed as Madhya Pradesh Day.
