Kanpur Development Authority to get land vacated for new Transport Nagar

KANPUR: Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) will establish New Transport Nagar at Panki. New Transport Nagar would be established in three phases and as many as 199 plots would be developed for the transporters in the first phase, according to secretary KDA, Rakesh Kumar. CM has also given green signal for it.

Rakesh Kumar informed that land acquisition was pending on the point of compensation. KDA had spotted around 500 bighas of land belonging to 250 farmers. The farmers were demanding compensation of their land at the rate of Rs five lakh per bigha land. And they were not giving possession of their land to KDA.

As soon as vice chairman would come KDA would initiate to take possession over land. He added that around one thousand transporters were operating in the city while around 995 plots had been planned. The transporters would get plots through lottery system .

Briefing about plots he said that plots would be of seven types and biggest one would be known as Z type with area of around 1800 sq mtrs. Smallest plot would be of E-1group having an area of 30 square meters.

President UP Motor Transport Association, Padam Singh Kushwaha informed that in 1999 KDA had proposed land in New Transport Nagar at the rate of Rs 900 per sq mtr but now officials were asking for a rate of Rs 9000 per sq meter.

Transporters had already deposited a sum of Rs 2.5 crores. KDA was trying to realize money in ten folds he added.

On the other hand Dinesh Bajpai former coperator who is leading the farmers said that We would not accept any compensation, which is less that Rs 5 lakh per bigha.
