Pay-and-park facility below Bhosari flyover

PUNE: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) plans to start a pay-and-park system below the Rajmata Jijau flyover in Bhosari to reduce traffic congestion on the Pune-Nashik highway.

Mayor Mohini Lande, accompanied by civic officials, inspected the flyover and nearby areas on Friday. As a first step, Lande directed the officials to remove the vehicles parked below the flyover.

Goods transport, commercial vehicles and handcarts are routinely parked below the flyover which causes inconvenience to pedestrians and leads to traffic congestion.

Lande told the officials to start landscaping in the space below the flyover where these vehicles are parked.

A decision has also been taken to install a traffic signal on the road below the flyover that goes to Alandi.

P1 and P2 parking will be introduced on the Alandi Road. Besides, bus stops on Alandi Road and Gavhane Vasti will be shifted to survey no 1 near Ankush Landge auditorium.

Lande instructed the civic officials to deploy anti-encroachment squads in two shifts to remove encroachments on roads, footpaths and below the flyover.

A median will be constructed on Dighi Road besides barricading the Dighi Road and Chandani chowk for streamlining the traffic.
