10 more Rajkot buses to hit roads

RAJKOT: Local commuting will become a bit easy when the local civic body adds 10 new city buses to its fleet on Wednesday.

Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) officials said that as of now there are 20 buses are operating on 10 different routes in the city and from Wednesday 10 more buses will be added on five new routes.

City engineer of RMC Chirag Pandya said that on an average 5,500 commuters use city bus services daily.

"We are getting a good response from the commuters and are expecting that more and more people would prefer traveling in city buses. There are 225 pick-up stands in the city,'' he said.

RMC officials said that by first week of December there will be 40 city buses in the fleet connecting different parts of the city. RMC had restarted its city bus services in the second week of October.

"We have displayed a time-table for various routes at bus-stops and new time tables on new routes will be made available soon,'' an official said.

RMC expects that by December end, about 8,000 commuters will start using city bus services daily in the city.
