Address drinking water issues: Eshwarappa

‘Funds will be released once plans are submitted'

SHIMOGA: State Bhartiya Janata Party president and local MLA K.S. Eshwarappa said here on Monday that the municipal authorities should take steps to solve the drinking water problem in certain parts of the city, including Venkatesh Nagar, Sevalal Nagar, Bommanakatte.

He was presiding over a meeting convened at the Deputy Commissioner's office to review the works of the City Municipal Council, Mangalore Electricity Supply Company, Public Works Department and Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board.

He suggested that the permanent water supply works be taken up in areas where water was being supplied through tankers and assured that the Government would release funds once plans and estimates were submitted.

He instructed that the development of roads and drainage system in the city limits be taken up on priority and suggested that the action plan be prepared to utilise the Rs. 10 crore sanctioned for it.

Superintending Engineer of Public Works Department Kantharaj assured the widening and concretisation of B.H. Road would be completed within 20 days.

He also asked for a revised list of names for the allotment of Ashraya houses.

Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey, president of the City Municipal Council N.J. Rajasekhar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sri Rangaiah and the Municipal Commissioner Jayanna were present.
