HYDERABAD: After five months, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) resumed daily water supply to the core city from Saturday as the two main reservoirs Osmansagar and Himayatsagar have reached full tank level (FTLs).

The Water Board had suspended drawing water from Osmansagar in May as it reached dead storage level.

"Now, the daily water supply to the core areas have been restored. The present water level at Osmansagar is 1,788 feet, while its FTL is 1790 feet. We started drawing 18 million gallons per day (MGD) from Osmansagar," HMWS&SB director-technical, S Prabhakara Sharma told TOI.

At Himayatsagar, the water level has touched 1,757 feet against its FTL of 1,763 feet. Also, the water level at Singur has reached 1717.440 feet against the FTL of 1717.850 feet, a senior Water Board official said.

The HMWS&SB is also ensuring bulk water supply to Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB), Osmania University and Military Engineering Services (MES), Railways and industrial units according to schedule, the official added.
