Furore over BWSSB disconnection drive

Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) disconnected two illegal connections in Yadalamma Nagar. They later lodged a complaint against the residents for preventing them from doing their duty, at Subramanyapura police station.

It is said that Yadalamma Nagar is yet to get Cauvery water supply. The residents were illegally drawing water from BWSSB’s main line. When BWSSB engineers went to disconnect the illegal connections, more than 500 people from Yadalamma Nagar stopped them.

Divisional executive engineer Gururaj approached the police, and with their help, the illegal connections were disconnected. Later, BWSSB lodged a police complaint.

Continuing its drive against illegal connections, the BWSSB disconnected 68 illegal connections, issued notices to 49 people and recovered `4,31,263 lakh in dues between April 5 and 8. The disconnection drive was conducted in R T Nagar service station area, G M Palya, Balaji Layout, HRBR First Block, Doopadahalli, HAL Third Stage, M V Garden, Murugeshpalya, Frazer Town, Yelahanka Fourth Phase, Vivekanagar, M G Road, Honnarpet, Kaggadasapura, Kengunte, Bhovi Colony, J P Nagar, Sanjeevini Nagar, Peenya, Pariyappanapalya, Dubbasipalya, BTM Layout and Uttarahalli.
