Repairs on, water shortage to continue for two days

The shortage of water supply in the city is likely to continue for two days more with the repair of pipelines still going on. Residents in many parts of the city are experiencing low water pressure and shortage of supply hours.

The problem started a few days ago after pipelines were damaged due to construction work causing supply from Phase III and IV of Kajauli getting affected. With repair underway, the supply is likely to be back to normal soon. Residents in most sectors are complaining about the supply hours being reduced.

A number of residents of Sanjay Colony, on Sunday, held a protest at Industrial Area Phase I, where they took out a march from the colony to the main road and blocked it for some time. Members of both Congress and BJP were present at the protest.

While addressing the protest, District President Shakti Prakash Devshali said the Municipal Corporation led by the Congress failed to provide basic amenities to city residents. He also said the residents had not received drinking water for three days but neither the local councillor nor MP had the time to look into their problem.

Congress leader Shashi Shanker Tiwari admitted the hardship people were facing and added the SHO at the local police station had arranged for water tankers.
