Repair work to hit water supply for 2 days in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: Water supply in most of the parts of the city would be hit on Wednesday and Thursday as the engineering wing of the municipal corporation (MC) is going to replace sluice valves and part of delivery header of pumping machinery in pump house phase I and II at the main water works of the city in Sector 39.

Due to the work, three subordinate water works situated in sectors 32, 37 and 26 would not get the supply in their respective areas. The water works at Sector 39 receives supply from the Kajauli canal and subordinate water works of the city, and in turn supplies water to various parts.

"The present sluice valves of the water works have stopped working completely. Hence, for proper supply of water from this canal, and from this canal to other subordinate water works, the disruptive supply has to be stopped for a day in order to complete the replacement work as soon as possible," said an official of MC"s engineering wing.

The areas to be affected more will be sectors 22, 23, 24, 35 to 43, village Attawa, Badheri, Buterla, Palsora, Dadumajra colony, Palsora colony, sectors 20, 21, 29, 31 to 34, 44 to 47, Industrial Area phase I and II, Ram Darbar, Burail, and Colony Number 5.

The MC has requested the public to store water as per requirement in advance and to bear with the corporation for the inconvenience.
