New water project likely

Rajahmundry: Mayor A. Veeraraghavamma has said that proposals have been submitted to the State government seeking sanction of a new drinking water project for the city. She was participating in the Praja Patham programme in the 8th ward in Rajahmundry on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, she said that the new project, if sanctioned, would solve the drinking water problem permanently in the city.
MLA R. Suryaprakasha Rao said that the immediate needs of the public would be attended now. The long-term requirements would be addressed in a phased manner. He said that proposals were sent to the government for anganavadi centre in the 8th ward. MLC K Durgesh said that under Arogyasri scheme, all the poor would get free treatment. Earlier, the programme was held in the 7th ward. Municipal Commissioner K. Manik Raj, trainee Collector Vivek Yadav, corporators G. Radhika, V. Srinivasa Rao and others attended.
