Grievance redressal meet

BWSSB will hold a grievance redressal meet on Monday from 7 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. According to a BWSSB release, the meet will be held at, Kumaraswamy Layout / ISRO Layout, Bashyam Park, Nandini Layout 1 and 2, D.J. Halli, Bellandur South East 3 sub- division and Girinagar (Kathriguppe-2) South West 3 sub-division.

GHMC to plug water leakage in city soon

HYDERABAD: Mayor Mohd Majid Hussain has directed the engineer-in-chief of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to submit circle-wise proposals to the standing committee on locations of perennial water leakages and sewerage overflows on main roads and repairs required for issuing administrative sanctions.

The mayor held a coordination meeting with Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) managing director J Syamala Rao along with Nampally MLA Virasat Rasool Khan, GHMC incharge commissioner Navin Mittal and others on Thursday.

He said HMWS&SB officials had submitted a tentative expenditure of Rs13.55 crore for executing 28 such works and directed the engineer-in-chief to take up the issue on a war-footing.

He also asked chief general managers and general managers of HMWS&SB to attend circle-level meetings, which would be held on last Tuesday and Wednesday of every month and sort out day-to-day road cutting coordination, corporators' budgetary issues and other problems.

Old drinking water pipelines will be replaced: Botcha

With an intention to plug leaks in drinking water mains that are 40 to 50 year-old and improve supply it has been decided to replace them all at a cost of Rs. 39crore in the fort town. Transport Minister Botha Satyanarayana has announced this at a meeting with municipal officials here on Thursday. The Minister said that the government had sanctioned the grant for replacement of old drinking water pipelines with that of new ones in all wards in Vizianagaram municipality. He has asked them to get ready for laying foundation stone and execution of works shortly.

With regard to Rachabanda programme that was conducted on Wednesday in the town, Mr. Satyanarayana said that 7,000 beneficiaries have been identified for distribution of ration cards, pensions, Bangaru Thalli certificates, etc. As majority of people could not submit representations at the venue, he directed Joint Collector and Special Officer of the municipality P.A. Sobha to open three counters at the municipal office to receive representations from people up to November 30. The eligible would receive government benefits from the New Year after completion of scrutiny by the end of December. At Rachabanda, he said that 4,062 ration cards and 805 pensions were distributed.
