No water yet in Bangalore East

BANGALORE: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board’s (BWSSB) claim, that water supply has been resumed in the city since Sunday, has fallen flat as many areas in the city still have not received even a drop of water for the past five days.

Some of the areas in East Bangalore were the most affected. The citizens had no option but to buy water at an inflated price in these areas. In some cases, citizens said they had to pay double the normal price to get a tanker of water. They said they were sharing it with their neighbours because of the shortage. Some of the areas of Vasanthnagar and Bannerghatta Road were also affected.

A BWSSB official said, ‘’As usual, we have been supplying 900 MLD of water to the city. As the water supply was stopped for three days, all the sumps in the low-lying areas have dried up. Until they are filled, the water would not reach these areas due to lack of pressure.

“It might take two or three days till all the areas get water.”
