As many as 200 Amma canteens in the city, which are aimed at feeding the poor at affordable prices, will now come under surveillance with the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.
The installation of these cameras was approved by the Council at a revised estimate of Rs 1.33 crore. Earlier, the Council had given its nod to set up the CCTV cameras at Amma canteens at a cost of Rs 1.07 crore during July.
However, the ELCOT submitted a revised estimate of Rs 1.33 crore that included procuring and fitting cost in October. The same has now been approved by the Council.
