Fined for using thin plastic items

Tirupur: The Corporation health officials imposed fine on 20 shops for using plastic materials of less than 20 microns following raids in Kongu Nagar and on P.N. Road on Tuesday.
City Health Officer K. R. Jawaharlal said that Rs. 25,000 was collected as fine from the shops, which include seven liquor bars attached to TASMC-run wine shops, 11 tea stalls and two groceries.
The officials also seized and subsequently destroyed food items kept under unhygienic conditions in eight liquor bars.
