Rs 100 fine for using plastic on Marina Beach
The Corporation announced this measure here on Tuesday after a 14-month old total plastic ban at the busy tourist spot turned out to be futile in checking the menace.
Anyone found to be littering plastic waste at the beach hereafter, would be forced to pay `100 as spot fine for violating the ban on throwing (or using) plastic at the Beach, Mayor M Subramanian told reporters here after reviewing beach maintenance work.
According to sources, about 17 sanitary inspectors would be doing the rounds to monitor visitors for the whole day.
