Corporation serves notice on building rule violators
The Coimbatore Corporation has served notice on promoters of 53 commercial complexes that are being constructed in violation of norms, said Commissioner T.K. Ponnusamy.During the course of inspections, the civic body officials have identified the buildings in various parts of the city.
The violations that were found in the buildings were not minor deviations but major violation of norms, which the Corporation would not permit.
If they were minor violations, the civic body as per rules would have either fined the promoters or asked them to carry out corrections prior to granting assessment. But the violations identified were major.
After giving sufficient time to the promoters to respond, the Corporation would go ahead and seal the buildings under construction.For, the civic body was left with very little choice but to initiate the action to enforce the rules and also drive home a strong message among the violators.
