Development works inspected
Commissioner for Municipal Administration, Chandrakant B. Kamble on Thursday conducted a surprise inspection of ongoing city development works.
He had a meeting with Mayor S.M. Velusamy and was accompanied by Corporation Commissioner G. Latha and Deputy Commissioner S. Sivarasu.
At the Amma canteen at Flower Bazaar, where solar power is being tapped, he suggested that compact fluorescent lamps be used. He visited the Corporation site at Kavundampalayam — an erstwhile compost yard — and discussed plans for the proposed vegetable market and plans for generating power from waste. After inspecting underground drainage works at Kavundampalayam and Selvapuram — Perur Road, he asked officials to conduct excavation work at night, place barricades near trenches and fix reflective stickers to caution motorists at night.
