New mini lorries to keep six town panchayats clean

Six of the ten town panchayats in Tiruvannamalai district got new mini lorries that will be used to collect garbage in their respective towns.

Handed over

Collector Vijay Pingale handed over seven mini lorries to the executive officers of six town panchayats viz. Chetpet, Polur, Kannamangalam, Kalambur, Desur and Peranamallur at an event held at the Collectorate here on Monday. These vehicles have been sanctioned under Integrated Urban Development Programme to the town panchayats that were facing difficulties in collecting garbage due to lack of vehicles. The vehicles are expected to strengthen the solid waste management programme in the local bodies.

Town panchayat presidents M.G. Radhakrishnan (Chetpet), K. Govarthanan (Kannamangalam), Veni Elumalai (Peranamallur) and Manjula Mohan (Desur) were present.
