The Health Department has completed conducting dengue-prevention awareness rallies in the district’s 14 blocks and urban places, including town panchayats, municipalities and corporation, P. Balusamy, Deputy Director of Health Services, said.

Mosquito traps

Meanwhile, the Government Headquarters Hospital has installed suction-type mosquito traps.

The mosquitoes get attracted to the ultraviolet rays emitted by the trap and then get sucked into the suction fan.

The fan draws the insects to the net as they get near and then traps them inside till they dry up.

The device is patient-friendly, in the absence of toxicity, odour, radiation, noise, chemicals or zapping sound.

The device has been fixed in 25 wards, Hospital Superintendent R. Krishna Kumar said.
