Rs 700 cr for scheme roads in TN
COIMBATORE: An overall allotment of `700 crore has been made for laying scheme roads in the state, Town and Country Planning director Pankaj Kumar Bansal said.
Addressing reporters after a review meeting at the Local Planning Authority (LPA) office here on Friday, Bansal pointed out that “As many of the vacancies in the Coimbatore LPA had been filled up, the number of pending applications had come down from 619 to 350. The LPA receives 75 to 100 applications per month. As `700 crore has been allotted for laying scheme roads in the state, the government is ready to acquire the required private lands and give adequate compensation to the owners.”
Earlier, the director gave a patient hearing to a large number of people who complained that the LPA officials were always delaying the process for sanctioning permission and building plan approval.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Ramakrishnan of RS Puram, the director warned the section officer that if the granting approval for the site is delayed departmental action would be taken against him.
