Coimbatore Corporation introduces new facility to pay tax

Special Correspondent

COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore Corporation has introduced a new facility to pay Property Tax, water charges and other taxes. These payments could be deducted from the savings bank account of tax payers, a press release from the Corporation has said.

The Corporation said the deduction from bank account would make it more convenient for the people as they need not wait at the counters to pay the taxes.

Banks

They had to give a letter of consent to the banks where they held their savings account.

The bank would deduct the taxes that were to be paid between April 15 and October 15 every year. The tax collected would be handed over to the Corporation.

Forms containing a column in which the consent could be mentioned were available at the banks, collection centres and the offices of the Corporation where the taxes were being paid now. The forms could be downloaded from the Corporation's website, the release said.

Filled-in forms should be submitted to the banks concerned along with a photocopy of the tax book.

The Corporation also wanted people to pay the arrears of Property Tax and water charges immediately and avoid disconnection of drinking water lines.
