Mobile tax collection schedule

The mobile tax collection unit of the Tiruchi Corporation would visit the following places in K.Abishekapuram zone of the city this week:

March 7- 10 to 11 a.m. – Vayalur Main Road, 11 to noon–Ammaiyappa Nagar, noon to 1 p.m. – Srinivasa Nagar, 1 to 2 p.m. – Shanmuga Nagar, 2 to 3 p.m.- Ramalinga Nagar Main Road (near Post Office), 3 to 4 p.m. – Ahmed Colony and 4 to 5 p.m.- Puthur Agraharam.

March 8–10 to 11 a.m. – Corporation Dispensary, Edamalaipattipudur, 11 to 11.30 a.m.- Corporation office, RMS Colony, 11.30 a.m.to noon – Viswas Nagar, noon to 12.30 p.m. – Madurai Main Road (near Councillor office), 12.30 to 1 p.m.- Colony Main Road, 1 to 1.30 p.m.- Renga Nagar, 1.30 to 2 p.m.- K.K.Nagar Main Road (near Jaganmatha Church), 2 to 2.30 p.m.- Min Nagar, 2.30 to 3 p.m.- RMS Colony, Karumandapam, 3 to 3.30 p.m.-Sakthi Nagar, 3.30 to 4 p.m. – Kalyanasundaram Nagar, 4 to 4.30 p.m.- Ponnagar and 4.30 to 5 p.m.- AG Church.

Corporation tax can be paid on holidays

Necessary arrangements were made in Tuticorin Corporation for payment of tax towards property, water supplies and others even on holidays. Except on Friday (March 4), which has been declared a local holiday by the district administration, tax payments could be made on all Saturdays and Sundays at the office here, Dinesh Ponraj Oliver, Commissioner of Corporation, said in a statement.

Municipality estimates to net Rs. 6 crore property tax

Thanjavur Municipality has estimated the property tax income to the tune of Rs. 6 crore for the year 2011-12.

Presenting the budget for 2011-12 at the Municipal Council meeting here on Monday, Thenmozhi Jayabal, Chairperson said during 2010-11, the property tax income was Rs. 5.70 crore.

Industrial tax income has been estimated at Rs. 1.20 crore for 2011-12. The Municipality had collected Rs. 1.20 crore as industrial tax for 2010-11.

Entertainment tax

On entertainment tax and registration fees, the council expects an income of Rs. 3.15 crore for 2011-12. During 2010-11, the income was Rs. 3.05 crore.

The council has put the capital expenditure for 2011-12 at Rs. 19.05 crore.

The council expects Rs. 12.50 crore from the State Finance Commission for payment of salary, pension for employees, electricity charges and other expenditures. The budget was approved by the council.

When the meeting began, Chitra (AIADMK) said there is drinking water scarcity in many areas in the town.

"The problem may become acute in March and April. The Municipality should maintain supply of drinking water during summer," she said. Swaminathan (AIADMK) said mosquito menace is a major problem in the town. To this, officials said mosquito control gas is sprayed using auto rickshaws.
