Mayor inspects drinking water augmentation works

TIRUCHI: Mayor S. Sujatha and Corporation Commissioner T.T. Balsamy on Monday inspected the progress of the Rs. 169-crore drinking water supply augmentation scheme that is being carried out by the Corporation here.
The scheme is being executed to ensure equitable supply of drinking water to all parts of the city. The Mayor and the Commissioner inspected the collector wells that were being sunk at three places on the Coleroon river at Melur besides inspecting the construction of ground level reservoir.
Review
A press release from the Corporation said the progress of the works was being reviewed every week with engineers and contractors. The Mayor and the Commissioner instructed the engineers and the contractors to complete the work on a war footing, the release added.
