Free eye camp for municipal staff inaugurated

KRISHNAGIRI: A free eye screening camp for over 200 municipal employees was inaugurated at the municipal office premises here on Thursday.

Chairperson B. Farida Nawab inaugurated the camp in the presence of M.E. Loganathan, Commissioner. The camp was organised in association with the Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital in Krishnagiri.

S. Arun Prasad, spokesperson of the hospital, says over 100 employees were screened on Thursday and the camp will be extended to Friday so as to cover the entire employees. Over hundred eye camps were conducted by the Krishnagiri and Hosur hospitals for the past one year in the district.

The hospital is conducting free eye screening camps as a service in the remote villages, schools and colleges in the district with the cooperation of the local bodies and the concerned institutions.

Ms. Nawab also distributed free gas stoves with LPG connection to 4,000 below the poverty line families living in different wards at a simple function in the presence of the officials and councillors.

With this, the number of free gas stoves and LPG connections distributed to the BPL families in the town has increased to 7260.
