Chennai corporation to conduct free coaching classes for students

CHENNAI: The Chennai corporation will conduct free coaching classes for students to help them succeed in competitive examinations.

Corporation officials said they would rope in private firms to conduct the free coaching classes across the city. The students from weaker sections of the society are expected to benefit from this scheme.

The classes would help students who prepare for CA, MBBS and BE entrance tests and those who prepare for Union Public Service Commission, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, Tamil Nadu Teacher Recruitment Board and Tamil Nadu Uniformed Service Recruitment Board examinations, they said.

A senior corporation official said, "We are also conducting a foundation course for the students from Class 9 to 12 at the corporation schools to help them succeed in competitive examinations. The classes for current affairs, mathematics, general knowledge, reasoning and English are being taken."

Officials said the coaching classes would be conducted at the corporation schools in the city. There will be separate classes for girls and boys. Students from outside the city can also participate in the programme.

Interested candidates can register their names on the corporation's website -www.chennaicorporation.gov.in — or contact mayor's office at Ripon Buildings.
