New Corporation Commissioner assumes office

MADURAI: Kiran Gurrala, 2009 batch IAS officer assumed his office as Commissioner of Madurai City Corporation on Wednesday. He was the Additional Collector as Project Director of DRDA in Sivaganga district previously.

Interacting with the media persons after taking up the post, he said that he is aware of the issues in the corporation as well as the expectations from the city people. He assured that he will aspire to look into them and he will be accessible to public. Special thrust will be given to revenue generation in the corporation and reforming the taxation. It will take a week for him to study the entire situation in the administration, he mentioned. He can both speak and write in Tamil, hence public can feel free to contact him, he said. Gurrala hails from Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh and had his engineering degree from NIT, Warrangal. He visited all the departments in the corporation office after taking charges and later attended the inauguration of auto & car bays in Mattuthavani bus terminal later in the evening.
