Co-operate with poll roll verification: Commissioner

TIRUCHI: Corporation Commissioner T.T.Balsamy has appealed to residents in Tiruchi West and Tiruchi East Assembly segments to extend their full cooperation to the field workers who would visit door-to-door for the cent per cent verification of electoral rolls.
Briefing field workers who are to carry out the work, Mr.Balsamy said that separate booth level officers for the two Assembly segments have been nominated to execute the task. They would visit door-to-door to verify whether voters already in the electoral rolls were still residing at the same place, whether the photos and names matched the details given in the rolls and whether there were eligible voters whose names have not been included in the electoral rolls. They would also check whether there has been any migration/death of voters.
Mr.Balsamy told the officials to ensure that no area was left uncovered during the field verification. No person can have double entry in one or more Assembly segment. Provision of wrong information by the voters would attract penal action. All enumerators should wear their identity cards while carrying out the field verification. Assistant Commissioners of the Corporation and field workers attended the meeting.
